Disaster Links

2/8/2006
I have posted the email Karen sent me at : Karen's email. It will take two to three months for the insurance company to settle and for repairs to be made to the house. In the meantime, Karen and Ashley have temporary living quarters provided by family and friends.

A summary will be listed below of the items needed.

2/7/2006
Karen M, a co-worker,close friend for many years and daughter of Charlie Watson (KJ4DH SK) suffered a house fire on Feb 7,2006. While no house fire can be considered a small fire, it was not a total loss. The fire started in her daughter, Ashley's room. Most of Ashley's personal belongings have been destroyed. The two dogs and cat that were in the house did not survive the fire. There is major damage to that bedroom, the hall and bathroom. The house is un-livable. I will post additional information and needs as I get it.

Karen
Karen's room was spared by the fire.

Ashley (16 yr old)
Shirts 17 Junior, 18 Women's or XXL T-Shirts (short or long sleeve)
Pants 17 Junior, 18 Woemen's or 36 mens Jeans, length 32
Shoes 9 1/2 Womens

Ashley's Bedroom
Bed, Chest of Drawers, Night stand, teen - girl distractions. The entire bedroom was destroyed.

Hall closet
Bed lines, towels, bath cloths

Bathroom
The bathroom took major damage as it was the outlet for the fire when it flashed over. I do not have a list of items, but you have an idea of what types of items were lost.

Other rooms
All curtains were torn down to let the smoke out of the house.
If any of you have ever had to file a claim against your homeowners insurance, you realize that it never covers the cost of rebuilding. Karen will need floor beams, flooring, paint, ceilings, walls and paint replaced, any materials to rebuild a room.
